Happy New Year; Emilia's 4 months old.

So, finally 2011 is gone. It was an eventful year for our family for many reasons. We went through a lot of difficult times with Emilia's unexpected birth and hospitalization but in the end, the year left us with lots of happiness and hope, all because Emilia is with us at home now, she's a thriving 4 month old baby.

Emilia's sleep problem persists. It's very difficult to put her down for sleep. Past few days I have been able to put her down for night time sleeping between 7 and 8 pm, but in order to do that I had to soothe her for 2 hours. She seems to love falling asleep on my breast. She doesn't even want her pacifier any more. She sucks on my nipple as if it was her soother now. This is causing us lots of problems. First, she's not self-soothing and I...and only I am able to soothe her. Her Daddy used to put her to sleep when he came home from work but now she just wants my breast!! Second, the amount of time she takes to fall asleep is becoming ridiculously long and I cannot do anything but hold her and breastfeed (or rather soothe her with my nipple) for hours at a time. Third, because she's constantly suckling before napping and nighttime sleeping, my nipples are becoming sore now. The only thing I am grateful for is once she goes to sleep, she doesn't wake up until 6:30-7am the next day.

Other than that, she's doing well... she's a chubby happy little baby girl. Playing with both hands now and being able to sit in her Bumbo chair for about 10 minutes.
